FRIDAY 29TH MAY

Poor old THE BETCHWORTH KID not only had a terrible journey to Ireland he could only manage fifth in his race. He was always kept off the pace and got shuffled back when turning into the home straight. He ran on towards the end of the race but the winner who had made all had already been sent home to win his race. Its another good run from our horse but he does need some relief from the handicapper as he is being punished for his consistent efforts. LADY ARTEMISIA was a hot favourite at Newcastle, but she ran in to a John Gosden hot pot and had to settle for second. The winner got first run on her and she was always trying to peg the winner back to no avail. The winner looks a really nice horse and could go on to be a bit special. The first two came along way from the others and on softer ground I am sure our filly would have been much closer to the winner. GREAT CHARM sadly could not cope with the fast ground and he will definitely be seen to better effect when he gets his favoured soft ground. At Sandown it was nice to see ALLIED POWERS run well in group company and although his finishing position would not flatter him it was a blanket finish and we know our horse would have been much closer had the ground been much softer.

Today we have seen LOCHAN MOR win at Yarmouth. It was a good effort from our horse, who had shown a lot of potential on his first run at Doncaster. It was good to see him win as he was bred by his owner Mr Andrew Buxton and it must be great reward for him after being so patient with the horse last season. The key to him is definitely the easier ground and hopefully he can develop into a nice three-year-old.

Tonight we have just RED ZOE running after the withdrawal of STEEL FREE ay Haydock. RED ZOE run well on her first start at Windsor and hopefully she can show another improved effort this evening.

Tomorrow we have runners at York, where hopefully BAHAMIAN BABE can build on her encouraging run at Bath last time. She will be ridden by a good seven pound claimer called Matthew Lawson so hopefully with such a light weight on her back she will fly along. Also tomorrow we have BUBSES BOY running at Lingfield in the evening. He has been in good form at home since his last run and hopefully he can give a good account of himself here.

WEDNESDAY 27TH MAY

Yesterday with only the one runner, we had hopes for HALFWAY HOUSE whose work had been improving all the time. He raced quite keenly towards the rear of the field and made rapid headway to move into a challenging position halfway up the straight. He came with what looked as though it could be winning effort but he just faded. One of his owners is Sir Alex Ferguson and we really hope he will fair much better in Rome this evening with his football team. COME ON YOU REDS!!!!!!

Today we have seen SOUL HEAVEN go in at Lingfield where he was given a lovely ride by Richard Mullen. He was settled in fourth place for the early part of the race and when asked to quicken, he did so in a very professional manor. He is a very nice horse and hopefully he will build on this victory.

Tomorrow we have two runners at Newcastle, where we are hopeful that LADY ARTEMISIA will go close. The filly she finished second to at Salisbury won today at Lingfield so this has given her form a real boost. She will be joined on the box by GREAT CHARM who hopefully will not find that the ground has dried up too much for. Also tomorrow we have ALLIED POWERS running, and steps up to group class in the Brigadier Gerard. He has returned from Hamilton in fine form and hopefully if he find the ground suitable he will run a big race. THE BETCHWORTH KID has headed of again to try his luck in Ireland and we really hope that he can land a big race this season as he certainly deserves to. Things have not got of to a good start when he encountered rough seas at Holyhead but thankfully he arrived safely in Dublin this afternoon. He will be ridden by Johnny Murtagh who will hopefully be able to get him home in front in this competitive seven runner field.

Today the horses worked on the peat moss.

BAHAMIAN BABE

BAHAMIAN BABE looked in good form ahead of her intended run at York and she moved nicely under her regular work rider Vicky Nicholls.

LOCHAN MOR

LOCHAN MOR was another who was doing his final piece of easy work before his run at Yarmouth on Friday.

PROFESSOR JOHN, JESSICA HAYLLAR AND PASTEL BLUE

PROFESSOR JOHN worked well with JESSICA HAYLLAR  who has been entered at Ripon on Tuesday and PASTEL BLUE. All three worked nicely and should be making racecourse debuts shortly.

BETONY AND RED ZOE

BETONY certainly looks to have come from her run at Wolverhampton and she partnered RED ZOE who is due to run at Haydock on Friday evening. Both are fillies on the improve and hopefully will give good accounts of themselves.

STEEL FREE AND BALLANTRAE

STEEL FREE worked really well ahead of her run at Haydock where she should have a good chance and she went well in partnership with BALLANTRAE who is improving and is gradually starting to come to herself.

BUBSES BOY AND SARISKA

BUBSES BOY looked in really good form working with SARISKA who went well under Jamie Spencer. We were pleased with how they both went and BUBSES BOY could possibly run at Lingfield on Saturday evening.

YU TIGER AND GASSIN

YU TIGER is really starting to come to himself and his gelding operation really seems to have helped him knuckle down to the job. He worked well with GASSIN who is another that is improving and starting to come too himself.

KIRK SESSION AND EDDIE BOY

KIRK SESSION is improving all the time with his work and he worked well with EDDIE BOY who is entered at Windsor on Monday evening.

CAUGHT ON CAMERA AND MOGGY

It was good to see CAUGHT ON CAMERA back on the gallops and she worked nicely with MOGGY who is ready for a run. MOGGY is entered at Carlisle on Monday where she could possibly take her chance, but I think, CAUGHT ON CAMERA will need a couple more pieces of work before she starts having entries made.

MONDAY 25TH MAY

We have had a luckless weekend with three runners, not really running as well as we hoped. On Saturday we sent MISS EZE up to Haydock where we thought she would have a good chance. She was always up with the pace and was ridden over two furlongs out. She soon weakened over one furlong  from home and came in to finish tenth of the twelve runners. She is definitely better than this effort suggests and it could possibly be that the race came to soon for her after her Newbury run. SECRET SOCIETY gave us our best effort over the weekend finishing fourth. He travelled well for the first part of the race but when asked to quicken, he never really looked happy and did not really seem to handle the dip. He has taken the race well and we will hopefully find another suitable opportunity for him shortly.

On Sunday we had just the one runner when DOVE MEWS ran down here at Newmarket. We were desperate to run her as she has been in good form at home and we were struggling to find any other suitable opportunities for her in the racing calendar. She chased the leaders and was ridden over two furlongs out. She weakened over one furlong out and could not quicken on the fast ground. Hopefully we will get some rain before her next run.

We have no runners today, but tomorrow we head to Leicester with HALFWAY HOUSE. He really seems to be in good form after running disappointingly at Windsor when the ground changed after the rain had fallen changing the going. He will be seen to better effect at Leicester on ground that we think should be to his liking, but it is a big field of runners.

On Wednesday we also only have the one runner when the unlucky SOUL HEAVEN runs again at Lingfield. He looks to have come on well from the run and hopefully will have a good chance in this particular race.

FRIDAY 22ND MAY

It was a great day yesterday at Goodwood when MONEYCANTBUYMELOVE won the listed race. She really deserved her win after some decent efforts and we are all absolutely delighted with her. She was given a good ride by Jamie Spencer who had her settled towards the rear. When he asked her to go she hit the front nicely and won the race in good fashion. Also on the card we had BIN END who probably found the ground a bit to firm for his liking after two drying days but he run another good race to finish in the frame. He was held up in touch in the rear and when asked to quicken he went to the front and looked like he may just be the winner, but he weakened inside the final furlong. As you can see from our pictures they have both returned looking really well and in good form.

BIN END

We have a blank day today and then tomorrow we have MISS EZE running again at Haydock. She was so unlucky last time and we are hopeful that Martin Dwyer will not run into the trouble that Jamie Spencer seemed to find at Newbury. Also at Newmarket we have SECRET SOCIETY running and we are hoping that he can build on his success and develop into the nice horse that we think he might be.

MONEYCANTBUYMELOVE

On Sunday we have DOVE MEWS running at Newmarket and she has been in good form at home. We would have preferred some rain to improve her chances as the ground is still really firm at present but in an eight runner field you would have to fancy her chances as she is a filly with ability.

WEDNESDAY 20TH MAY

We have loads to update you on runners wise and so we will start with Monday nights runners at both Windsor and Wolverhampton. At Windsor we had the two maiden fillies PIQUANTE and RED ZOE running. It was certainly an encouraging effort from RED ZOE who although still looks very green and was on and off the bridle to start with she really seemed to get the hang of things late on in the race and ran on nicely to finish eighth. She will certainly come on for the run and hopefully will keep improving. PIQUANTE is leaving us scratching our heads at present as we think we have found her trip and then she runs as if we have got it wrong. She is a hard filly to fathom as she works well at home. At Wolverhampton we had three runners and BETONY started the proceedings here. She was slowly away and was always struggling after this. She is certainly worth another chance and we will see how she has come on for her run next time. SOFONISBA did not run as expected and was up with the pace early on but soon faded and came in towards the rear of the field. We finally got off the mark in the last race when MEZZANISI obliged. He was given a lot of criticism on At the Races by Matt Chapman which was so unfair. His form is in fact really good and despite to effort when he slightly lost the plot at Goodwood last year and on another occasion when he was given a bad ride and got in all sorts of trouble he has not finished outside the prize money. Thankfully Matt Chapman was made to eat his words when our horse who was always handy won in good fashion. We were so please he could bag a win as he is owned by two really lovely gentleman who have had horses with us for a long time so it was especially nice to get a one by his name for them.

Yesterday we had three runners, two at Leicester and one at Nottingham. ACT GREEN headed to Nottingham where she made her racecourse re-appearance for this campaign. She was ridden from the front but she did´t seem to see out her race out. She should come on from the run and might be seen to better effect on quicker ground. At Leicester we were hopeful of STEEL FREE breaking her maiden tag. Running over this shorter trip and on this quicker ground did not seem to suit her and a return to further and possibly easier ground will hopefully be more to her liking. LOMBOK was our only other runner and he ran okay although he still looks very immature and green. He will definitely have his day and he improves all the time with his runs.

Today we have seen ADVISOR run at Goodwood. He was settled nicely in the middle of the field but seemed to take a while to get going. He finished well, but it was pretty much when the race was over and had to settle to finish sixth.

It was a really nice day today in Newmarket and it was great to get out in the yard and see SARISKA who was having a pick of grass. She looked fantastic in her coat and looks to have taken her race really well.

Today the horses worked up the peat moss gallop.

PROFESSOR JOHN, FARMER GILES AND WIGMORE HALL

These three two-year-olds worked over five and half furlongs and they all worked really well. PROFESSOR JOHN is a new recruit from the Guineas Breeze Up Sales and he looked to be going nicely enough with FARMER GILES who will hopefully break his maiden soon and WIGMORE HALL, who looks to be a quality little horse.

PASTEL BLUE, BABYCAKES, JESSICA HAYLLAR AND

L' ENCHANTERESSE

PASTEL BLUE and BABYCAKES pleased in this group over five and half furlongs and they look possibly ready for a run shortly. JESSICA HAYLLAR who came to us via the Breeze Ups and L'ENCHANTERESSE did not look as sharp as the other two, but both were doing their first pieces of work which went nicely.

GREAT CHARM

GREAT CHARM worked nicely on his own and he is entered down here at Newmarket on Sunday. Sadly it looks as though he may have to bypass this as we do not seem to be having anymore rain at present.

DOVE MEWS

DOVE MEWS worked nicely on her own and she is likely to run at Newmarket on Sunday. She is in good form and hopefully should run well.

NIGHT KNIGHT, EDDIE BOY AND BUSSELL ALONG

These three horses are all ready to run. They all had entries this week which they have had to bypass due to ground etc. They all look in fantastic form and hopefully NIGHT KNIGHT can build on his success at Redcar last time out and BUSSELL ALONG can improve from her run at Yarmouth where she stayed on well towards the end of the race to take third.

SECRET SOCIETY

SECRET SOCIETY went nicely on his own and he is due to run down here at Newmarket on Saturday where he will be partnered by Eddie Ahern.

HALFWAY HOUSE AND KIRK SESSION

HALFWAY HOUSE worked really well  and he has been entered at Leicester on Tuesday. KIRK SESSION improves all the time and is really starting to get the hang of things now.

MONDAY 18TH MAY

The wet weather seems to have certainly helped our horse’s chances and we were delighted with ALLIED POWERS win on Friday evening at Hamilton. He was given a very patient ride by Michael Fenton and was always travelling strongly off the pace. Having moved smoothly through to challenge over two furlongs out, he quickly went clear in a manner that suggests he is probably ready to tackle group company now. His next target could be the Brigadier Gerard at Sandown later in the month as long as the ground is suitable for him.

On Saturday we had high hopes for THE BETCHWORTH KID after the going at Newbury changed to soft. He again managed to get in the first three and after another consistent effort he deserves to get his head in front in this sort of company. I am sure he will have his day again this season and hopefully it will not be to long in coming. MISS EZE was really unlucky later in the day as she had no luck in running. Jamie had her settled out the back well off the pace. She was sent to the stands rail and this passage got cut off to her and she faced a wall of horses with no where to go. She finished the race well, but by this time it was already over. She is certainly one to take out of the race and we have high hopes for her. RED EVIE won this race in 2006 and hopefully MISS EZE will head the same way. Fingers crossed! In the evening we had only the one runner at Doncaster called LOCHAN MOR. He had been pleasing in his work at home, but we thought he would need the run. He gave the hot favorite of Sir Michael Stoute’s a good battle and he may have got up possibly if he had more experience. He will certainly have his day and will only improve from this effort.

On Sunday we had two runners at Ripon and we had quite fancied AUNT NICOLA after her recent run at Newmarket where she put up a good effort. She was never really going at Ripon and Tom Queally felt that she did not handle the track. We know she is better than this effort suggests and we will see how she is over the next couple days before making further plans. ROYAL BET is another who is improving all the time and I slightly expected him to be closer than he was. He was held up in behind and made some headway but never troubled the leader. He is eligible for a handicap mark now and we will see how the handicapper assesses him before making further plans.

We have a busy day today with three runners at Wolverhampton and two at Windsor. At Wolverhampton we run a nice filly called BETONY who makes her racecourse debut. She has been a filly that seems to have had her fair share in niggley little problems so it is great to finally get her on the track She is a very honest, genuine filly and hopefully she will show some promise on her racecourse debut. Later on the card we have SOFONISBA running and she has been in good form of late. It would be really nice if she could oblige and giver her really nice Italian owners there first winner for us. She will be ridden by Andrea Atzani so at least he will be able to tell them what he thinks in Italian! Finally on the card MEZZANISI bids to win his first race of this year’s campaign. He ran fantastically well last time to get another second by his name, beaten by a horse called Hatton Flight who has since won again and hopefully tonight will be MEZZANISI’S night. At Windsor we hope to get off the mark with PIQUANTE who is running in the Maiden. She has been working nicely at home and run well on her re-appearance so we are hopeful that she will run very well. Also in the maiden we run RED ZOE who is a nice filly by Danehill Dancer. Her homework is improving all the time and although she may not be good enough to win here hopefully she will give a good account of herself and show plenty of promise.

Tomorrow it is good to see STEEL FREE return to action. She was second last time at Newbury and was slightly unlucky when Jamie dropped his stick. We are certain she is a nice filly with lots of ability and hopefully she will prove this here. Also at Leicester we are running LOMBOK who was not made enough use of last time and we are hoping that he will been seen to better effect here. Our only other runner is the nice Haafhd filly ACT GREEN at who runs at Nottingham. She has wintered well at her owner Mr Gredley’s Stetchworth Park Stud and we think she will be a nice filly for this season.

FRIDAY 15TH MAY

SARISKA has returned from York in good order and has shown no signs of any stiffness or soreness after her race. I saw her this morning going out for a walk and you would not have thought she has had a run. It is now all systems go for the Investec Oaks and hopefully she will remain in once piece for the next three weeks. BIN END is fine as well and he has been entered again next week at Goodwood.

Yesterday we had a nice surprise when LADY ARTEMISIA ran so well at Salisbury. We expected her to run well but after they had not received the rain they were forecast we were not expecting such a good effort on ground that she clearly would not have liked. She stayed on well just missing out and they went nicely clear of the third. She is improving all the time and should prove good enough to win a maiden shortly. FOUR WINDS carried on our good run by winning at Newmarket last night. FOUR WINDS was traveling extremely well and although  he was driven right out close home as he slightly seems to idle when he hits the front and he was in front for a long time, but he won nicely. We felt that the very soft ground was against him at Newbury and he now hopefully goes back to 1m2f for the Hampton Court Stakes at Royal Ascot where he escapes a penalty.

Today we have seen BRAE HILL run at Newmarket and he had a good blow, and looked as though he needed the run. He was up with the pace and Ted Durcan who rode him said he was nicely settled in behind and when asked to quicken he just got tired. He felt he would be better on seven furlongs and on easier ground. Tonight we have ALLIED POWERS running at Hamilton and we are really hopeful that the rain at Hamilton arrives in time as he will need this to enhance his chances. Fingers crossed it arrives!

Tomorrow we have two runners at Newbury where THE BETCHWORTH KID should have a good chance if the rain at Newbury continues to fall. He has been in good form since returning from Ireland and if conditions suit we are expecting a good run. Also on the card we have a nice filly called MISS EZE who won her maiden at Folkestone last year and then was second in a listed race at Newmarket on her only other start. We like her a lot and hope she gives a good account of herself. In the evening we introduce a nice colt called LOCHAN MOR at Doncaster. His mother is a good horse that we trained called BRIGHT MOLL who won two races for us and was placed second twice. He is a real smart little colt and although he will probably need the run he should definitely be one that will improve.

On Sunday we have two runners at Ripon and these include AUNT NICOLA who ran well on her re-appearance at Newmarket and has been pleasing in her work at home since. She is a nice filly and I am sure she will be there or thereabouts. ROYAL BET is another who is in good form since his last run and he has been working well on the gallops at home. We expect him to run a  good race.

WEDNESDAY 13TH MAY

What a fantastic day!

The boss left Nemarket this morning early to walk the course at York as the rain had not arrived and we were in some doubt about SARISKA taking her chance. The clerk of the course William Derby had done a fantastic job in both keeping us informed about the going and from stopping the strong winds completely drying out the track. It was still possibly a bit on the firm side for our filly but she handled it well and won in good style. She never looked as though she would get beaten and was always kept handy by Jamie Spencer. When asked to quicken she went nicely away from her rivals. We will see how she is over the next few days but it has definitely put a smile on all the people faces here in the yard. Hopefully this will now give our season a boost especially now it looks like rain is about which is definitely going to suit our horses. BIN END was unlucky in that he was unable to get any cover. He had to make all and when the horses came to him he looked as though he may just drop away He did not and kept battling and if the race had been a bit further he may just have got back up but sadly the line came and he had to seetle for fourth beaten a length.

LADY ARTEMISIA has headed of to Salisbury this afternoon for the race meeting at the track tomorrow. She should have a good chance if they get the rain they are forecast and hopefully she will show another good effort. Also tomorrow we have FOUR WINDS running at Newmarket and at present we have not had any rain. He has been dropped back to a mile which we are hoping will suit him and hopefully he will give a good account of himself.

On Friday we have two runners when ALLIED POWERS has been sent to  Hamilton for the only soft ground that is about in the country and hopefully he should run a good race and down here at Newmarket we see the re-appearance of BRAE HILL for the first time this season. He has been working well at home and hopefully if he has improved from two to three he should have a good chance.

Today the horses worked again on the watered gallop.

GLASNOST AND CRUNCHED

The first group to come up consisted of GLASNOST and CRUNCHED. This was the first time I have seen these two over the racecourse working and CRUNCHED looks as though he is going the right way and worked well. GLASNOST looks slightly on the green side and he looks as though he needs grabbing hold of to educate, but they both worked well together and hopefully they are not far off a run.

LOCHAN MOR, SECRET SOCIETY AND AUNT NICOLA

LOCHAN MOR was ridden by Jamie Spencer and he is now ready to run He has missed a couple of engagements due to the firm ground but he is in at Doncaster on Saturday and also holds an entry at Leicester. AUNT NICOLA looks to have come on from her run at Newmarket well and she could possibly run on Sunday at Ripon. SECRET SCOIETY is also entered on Saturday at Newmarket and he looks in really good form.

LOMBOK, KIRK SESSION AND ROYAL BET

ROYAL BET looked impressive in this group and he holds an entry at Ripon on Sunday. He looked to be going with relative ease and hopefully he will get the rain he needs to take his chance. KIRK SESSION is really starting to get the hang of things as he is a year behind the others as he was never in training last year. Although still quite green he is learning all the time and he is a real sweet horse. LOMBOK is in good form and he has been entered at Leicester on Tuesday where hopefully if he runs he should run really well.

BETONY, CAUGHT ON CAMERA AND BALLANTRAE

BETONY looks as though she is starting to get the hang of things and after being entered a few times, will finally get to the track She is entered on Monday at Wolverhampton and also on Tuesday at Nottingham. CAUGHT ON CAMERA looks to be in good form and she is now not far off the entry stage. BALLANTRAE looks to have got over her problem and she looked ito be moving really well, when she passed me.

ADVISOR AND THE BETCHWORTH KID

ADVISOR worked really well in partnership with THE BETCHWORTH KID and he has missed his entries at Newbury and York on Friday to head to Goodwood next week. THE BETCHWORTH KID looks in really good form after his run in Ireland and he moved sweetly on the ground that he likes. He has an entry at Newbury on Saturday where hopefully he will run if they get sufficient rain. Fingers crossed that they do!

MONDAY 11TH MAY

This weather is really starting to get to us, although we are loving the sunshine we are in desperate need for RAIN!!!!!!

GO FORTH NORTH

On Saturday we had the four runners with sadly no success. SUMMER LEASE did not run as we had hoped and after being prominent for first part of the race, failed to make an impression and had to settle for ninth place. She is due to be covered now and I am sure she will make into a lovely broodmare as she is a lovely looking filly. GREAT CHARM ran later on the card and he failed to show his best effort in ground that was to fast for him. He was always towards the rear and when asked to quicken he really did not find anything which was a great shame. At Haydock REDFORD could only manage fourth. He was held up and was asked for effort with two left to run but weakened inside the final furlong. He look as though he may be better suited by seven furlongs but on softer ground I am sure he would have been much closer. Finally SOUL HEAVEN rounded of a frustrating day when running at Warwick. The Racing Post has earmarked him as the eye catcher of the race. He ran very green when asked to make his bid for victory and could have proved very troublesome to the winner had he known what was required of him. He was hampered about 50 yards from the line but it was definitely an encouraging performance from a horse who will be better suited by six furlongs.

PASTEL BLUE

Today we have seen the unlucky FARMER GILES beaten again which is slightly unfair as he deserves to have won his maiden by now, but he always seems to find a couple to good for him. We will see how he has taken the race before making further plans for him. At Yarmouth this afternoon we have certainly seen an improved effort from BUSSELL ALONG who was given a really good, strong ride from Saleem Golam who is a good jockey and should be getting more opportunities. She is a filly that you have to keep up to her work and she ran on nicely to get her third position. Hopefully she can build on this better effort and we can find a winning opportunity for her. Thankfully we have got of the mar with a winner at Redcar this afternoon when NIGHT KNIGHT obliged at Redcar. He was given a good ride by Jamie Spencer and after stumbling coming out the stalls he was settled nicely at the rear of the field. When asked to go, he quickened up nicely and won by a couple of lengths. It was really pleasing to get the win into him as he is owned by a lovely group of owners and most of them had about a four hour journey to watch him run. At least the journey home will not seem so long!

JESSICA HAYLLAR

We have no runners tomorrow after we declared nothing at Warwick which leaves us now praying that the rain arrives in  time for our runners at York on Wednesday. SARISKA has been declared to run in the Tattersalls Musidora which is a group three, and with only six runners we think she will run well. They are currently watering the course and have rain forecast on Wednesday which will certainly increase her chances. We have also declared BIN END who will also appreciate a bit of give in the ground but he is in the last race so hopefully the rain that is forecast will have arrived by the time his race is off.

FRIDAY 8TH MAY

After a blank week we finally get back to the action tomorrow with four runners at different meetings. At Ascot we have SUMMERS LEASE running again after her disappointing effort at Pontefract. She has been going nicely at home and hopefully the drop back to a mile will suit her. Also at Ascot we have GREAT CHARM running and hopefully the ground will be suitable for him to take his chance. He has been in good form at home and hopefully he will give a good account of himself here. At Haydock we finally see the re-appearance of REDFORD who has been in fine form in his work at home. He should have a good chance in the eight runner field and hopefully he will show the ability that everybody thinks he has. Our last runner is at the evening meeting at Warwick where SOUL HEAVEN make his racecourse debut. He is a really nice colt by Oratorio and although I think he may well be better over six furlongs he has been working nicely with FARMER GILES at home and we fancy him to give a good account of himself.

Monday is still a bit up in the air with entries at Redcar, Windsor, Wolverhampton and Yarmouth. At this stage we look like having FARMER GILES and NIGHT KNIGHT running at Redcar where they will be ridden by Jamie Spencer. Later on in the week we start getting busy again with runners at the three day York meeting and also possible runners at Hamilton, Newmarket and Salisbury.

WEDNESDAY 6TH MAY

Due to the firm ground we have had to abort  our plans with runners at Chester and the various other meetings we had entries for. It is so annoying that the rain has not arrived but we are all enjoying the sunshine. We have a load of entries at the weekend but again these will all be dependent on the ground.

With the ground drying up we had to use the water gallop again this morning.

LOCHAN MOR AND SECRET SOCIETY

The first group to work was SECRET SOCIETY and LOCAN MOR and both have engagements coming up. They both worked well together and LOCHAN MOR certainly looks to be improving. He was due to run at Nottingham on Friday which he has now bypassed and he could now head to Doncaster on the 16th May. SECRET SOCIETY could possibly run at Lingfield on Saturday but he has also been entered at Warwick on Tuesday.

REDFORD

REDFORD looked good coming up the watered gallop under Twyron Lloyd-Jones and he is due to take his chance at Haydock at the weekend where hopefully they will have had sufficient rain in order for him to take his chance.

DOVE MEWS AND BETONY

DOVE MEWS looked in good form and went nicely with BETONY who is improving. DOVE MEWS is being targeted for a six furlong handicap at the Countryside Alliance meeting at Newmarket and BETONY is starting to have entries made and hopefully she will now have a trouble free run.

PIQUANTE, RED ZOE AND MOGGY

PIQUANTE looked in good order and she worked well. She was due to run at Nottingham on Friday which has now been cancelled and she holds an entry at Yarmouth on Monday. RED ZOE is entered in the same race at Yarmouth and she has been improving all the time. She will need some cut in the ground if she is to take her chance. MOGGY has missed a couple of entries but is ready to run and she worked well ahead of a possible run at Wolverhampton on Monday in a fillies handicap.

SOUL HEAVEN AND FARMER GILES

Sadly this gallop did not go according to plan as poor old BINTHERE DUNTHAT was supposed to be with this group but one of these colts decided to mess about jumping off and the poor filly got left at the start. SOUL HEAVEN looks a really nice individual and he is entered at Warwick on Friday where he could make his racecourse debut. FARMER GILES is definitely a winner waiting to happen and he is in at Redcar on Monday. BINTHERE DUNTHAT is really starting to come to herself and she went well but was given no chance really. She is certainly our sharpest two-year-old filly at present.

LADY ARTEMISIA and SOFONISBA

LADY ARTEMISIA worked well and looks to have come on allot from her run at Windsor and she is entered at Warwick on Saturday where a decision on her participation will be made in the morning. SOFONISBA also looks to have taken her race well and is not far from being ready for another run.

ACT GREEN AND SARISKA

These two fillies came up together nicely. I was impressed with how well ACT GREEN went and hopefully she is not far off a run. She is being aimed at a fillies handicap at Salisbury next week. SARISKA is a lovely big horse and it is a real treat to watch her work. She looks to be quite a laid back filly and only ever seems to do enough. She is being aimed either the Musidora on the 13th May or the Swettenham Stud Stakes on the 15th May.

MONDAY 4TH MAY

We have an easy day today with sadly no runners on the bank holiday Monday. Things look quiet now up until the end of the week when we could possibly have runners at Chester's May meeting.

We did have runners over the Guineas weekend at Newmarket on Saturday and on the Sunday. The first of these to run was FOOLIN MYSELF who possibly found the ground a bit to lively for his liking. He was held up towards rear and was ridden and asked for effort over two furlongs out but was beaten well over one furlong out. We know he is better than this effort suggests and we will see how he has taken the race over the next few days before making plans. AUNT NICOLA ran a good race to finish fourth on her seasonal debut and looks as though she may have just needed the run having been of the track since July of last season. She was trying this trip for the first time and she was up with the pace for a long way before fading which would indicate she needed the run.

On Sunday we had only the one runner and that was MONEYCANTBUYMELOVE who ran so well at the track a fortnight earlier. She looked as though she was slightly outpaced early on. Turning around previous form with The Miniver Rose, she should not remain a maiden for too long and may benefit from a step up to a bit further.

FRIDAY 1ST MAY

The horses seem to have a bit of a sticky patch at present. Yesterday we had two runners and the first of these was BUSSELL ALONG at Folkestone. She looked to be travelling quite nicely at the rear of the field and when asked to quicken she did not appear to find anything and was soon eased. We will see how she is over the next couple of days before making further plans for. THOMAS BAINES was an odd on favourite at Yarmouth and I am always uneasy when we have odds on favourites because in all the time I have worked here I can never remember us having an odds on winner. He never looked happy after another tardy start and just seemed to hang and carry his head carraige very high when under pressure. He definitely has plenty of ability and possibly could be suited by easier ground. I am not sure what the plan is with him now but he could possibly be gelded before his next run.

We have no runners today but we have two tomorrow at Newmarket. FOOLIN MYSELF looks to have a chance in the Suffolk Stakes, the handicap over a mile and one furlong although the ground looks as though it is going to be on the firm side of good which will not possibly help and and later on the card we have the nice filly AUNT NICOLA running in the handicap over seven furlongs. She has been working nicely with STEEL FREE and so hopefully she will give a good account of herself here.

On Sunday we have only the one runner when MONEYCANTBUYMELOVE returns to the track at Newmarket where she ran so well in the sales race at the craven meeting. She looks to have a good chance and hopefully in a field of eight runners she can show herself to good effect.
