MONDAY 21ST DECEMBER

YURIY AND KATERINA                           HELEN CAVANAGH

Well we have all got over the Christmas Pary celebrations in good order and we had a really fun evening at the White Hart Hotel. It was great to see everyone dressed up and enjoying the evening which got everyone in the Christmas spirit.

PAPPU AND SERGEY                             IAN BURNS

The boss gives out his annual awards which consists of an achievement award and the wooden spoon for the person who has made the most mishaps. This is always won by one of the traveling staff (usually shared between either Becky Gray or Gilly Dolman) and this year Becky or Gilly looked hot favorite to get it again. Sadly Becky could not make the party and so Gilly got the wooden spoon again for the second year running.

SUZIE AND BLANKA                             M. BELL AND HAYLEY

Tom Hemlsey won the achievement award for all his efforts with Art Connoisseur and Halfway House. He is such an good lad and since he arrived from the Racing School he has just improved so much.

KEVAN AND MRS MCEVOY              IAN AND BLANKA

The weather in Newmarket is certainly picture Christmas card weather and the heath looks absolutely beautiful when I take my dogs for a walk in the morning and it is completely deserted which is great for the dogs as they can have a run of the leads which is not allowed in the morning but you are okay as long as Mr Gittus from the Jockey Club does not catch you!

MATTHEW                                                  MONIKA

It has meant that the horses have had to be exercised in the barn and in the rings in the yard as it has just been to dangerous to get them out. They are starting to get quite fresh and with more snow forecast it looks as though its going to be a fun week.

CHRIS AND YVONNE CONWAY         REBECCA CAUDILLO

Hopefully in the New Year things will start to pick up and we will have some runners on the all weather which we can write about. I am not sure if we will get to update the website again before Christmas but if we dont we would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas X.

FRIDAY 11TH DECEMBER

COMMUNICATOR

I am sorry the website has been so boring of late but things really have quietend down and not much is happening. Things will certainly pick up on Monday when we have our yards Christmas Party which is always entertaining. I shall be taking my camera so hopefully will get some good pictures of the festivities. We have a change of venue this year so hopefully it will as good fun as it usually is.

CREME ANGLAISE

SAKHEE EX TETRAVELLA

On Wednesday we were really excited about the prospect of SARISKA coming back into us and she arrived from Daylesford looking in fantastic condition. She had a month at grass and it was great that she spent time with Lady Bamford. Yesterday we had BIN END arrive back from Stratford Place Stud and he looked really well. He is is such a promising individual who has some really decent form and we hope that he will fulfill his potential. Also coming back with him was CONSIDER YOURSELF who looks to have really benefitted from her winter break. She looked in fantastic order and John Wall who runs Stratford Place Stud always does a magnificent job and they come back in looking a million dollars.

SHAMARDAL EX PAINTED MOON

PIVOTAL EX HIDDEN HOPE

FRIDAY 4TH DECEMBER

We have had a busy week on the arrival front this week and on Monday we had arriving in from Lordship Stud a sweet filly by Invincible Spirit Ex Blessing and she has now started being broken. She has taken everything really well so far and will hopefully be ridden in about a fortnights time.

HALLING EX VELVET WATERS

On Tuesday we had the arrival of FAR FROM OLD who has spent his career in France with John Hammond. He looks to real gentleman and it is nice to see these older horses being kept in training. On Wednesday we had a real quality yearling arrive from Coolmore Stud when the Galileo Ex Bridie came in from Ireland. She is a lovely filly and she has started being broken now.

VERGLAS EX UP AND ABOUT

Then today we have had three yearlings come in from Ireland belonging to Sheikh Marwan al Maktoum. They had a plane ride from Dublin and landed at Cambridge this afternoon. We have a Cape Cross Ex Red Conquest, a Bertolini Ex Heavenly Bay and a Singspiel Ex Local Spirit. All have had the prep work done at the studs and will probably be broken in about ten days time.

TWINKLED

On Tuesday we said goodbye to MISS EZE and RED ZOE who were both sold at the December Sales. MISS EZE made £48,000 and has gone to Rathbarry Stud in Ireland. Hopefully she will prove a big success as a broodmare here. RED ZOE was sold for £3,500 and also has gone to be a broodmare at stud I believe.

TUESDAY 1ST DECEMBER

CREME ANGLAISE

Thankfully we had a dry day today and it meant that I could get out and take some pictures of the yearling who were using the grass for the first time which usually means we have a loose one. Every horse behaved perfectly well and thankfully we had no casualties.

OLD MASTER EXPERT

Sadly later on after the horses had finished cantering and returned home as I was walking back to the car I met George Margarsson string and he was riding the lead horse. He was about to jump off when his horse bucked and reared up depositing him on the ground. Sadly I did not have my camera ready for this else I could have earned a fortune from Youve been Framed! Thankfully George was okay.

DUBAWI EX DUBAI SURPRISE

Tonight we sadly say goodbye to MISS EZE and RED ZOE who are due to go through the December Sales this evening. They are both nice fillies and hopefully they will find good homes.

HURRICANE RUN EX AMATHIA

The Six to Follow has now finished and it was won by Hayley and I have been told she was slightly helped by our assistant Tim Dennis when picking her horses. This is certainly what Tim is telling everyone anyway. In second was Kevin McEvoy who works in the yard and in third place was Mick Andrew's, Allied Powers grooms wife Jo McHugh. Thank you so much to everyone who took part. It was the most entries we had ever had for the second year running with the winner recieving £660.00, Second getting £330.00 and third getting £110.00. We really hope that everyone will take part next year and hopefully we will beat 110 entries!

WEDNESDAY 25TH NOVEMBER

DANEHILL DANCER EX MISS CORNICHE

We has another three yearlings ridden today in the rings. I especially liked to look of the Galileo Ex Miss Riviera Golf who looks a really nice colt. He has taken the breaking process well and behaved really well. Also in the group was the Holy Roman Emperor ex Charlotte O'Fraise who can be a tricky little lady. She is very sweet natured and after she has got the freshness out of her she was quite happy to trot round in figures of eight. The Danehill Dancer Ex Miss Corniche was another who behaved well once she was kept going and she looks as though she will be nice with time.

HOLY ROMAN EMPEROR EX CHARLOTTE O' FRAISE

We have been so lucky to have the opportunity to train three horses for Mr Inman and we were all eager to see them when thy arrived. MONITOR CLOSELY who won the Voltiguer and was third in the St Leger looks a fine colt and he was joined by STRONG VIGILANCE and COORDINATED CUT who are both promising prospects for next year. They have settled in really well and we are looking forward to training them next season.

MONITOR CLOSELY AND COORDINATED CUT

STRONG VIGILANCE

FRIDAY 20TH NOVEMBER

Time seems to have flown by since we last updated the website but things have gone really quiet and we have not really had that much happening.

Since we last updated we have had a handful of runners going back to last Friday when we had the two fillies running at different meetings. The first of these to run was MISS EZE who was running at Lingfield. She travelled well for the early part of the race being kept handy by Jimmy Fortune. She was given every chance to win her race when entering the final furlong bet kept on at the one pace and could not quicken. Its a great shame as we had expected big things from her after her first run and she will head to the December Sales now and hopefully someone will take a shine to her. Later in the evening we had HERECOMETHEGIRLS running at Wolverhampton and she was held up in mid-division by Jamie Spencer She was then ridden and hung left at the bend over two furlongs from home and was eased over a furlong out. She was a bit stiff after the race but seems fine now and has returned home to Mrs Hearn's Mascalls Stud where she will be given the five star treatment before deciding on the next course of action for her. She has improved on most of her runs and should be capable of winning races in her grade.

DR FONG EX WELSH VALLEY

On Saturday we had just the one runner at Lingfield when BABYCAKES ran. She had shown plenty of promise early on in the year and then went really backwards and grew so much and then looked really weak. She ran a moderate race and has now gone for a winter break. She should hopefully mature more over the winter and we feel she is hopefully going to be a nice filly for next year.

IFFRAAJ EX CONGRESSIONAL

On Wednesday we hit the 48 winner mark when HYPNOTIZED got off the mark at Kempton. He was given a really good ride by Jamie Spencer who had him tracking the leaders for the early part of the race. He was asked for effort over two furlongs out and was driven to lead over one furlong out. He was soon well in command and won nicely.

Yesterday we had the one runner at Kempton in the shape of FIRETAIL. She again failed to show signs of any significant ability and has now gone to New England Stud where a decision on her future will be made. She is a well bred filly, from a good family and would possibly make a nice broodmare prospect.

HURRICANE RUN EX AMATHIA

The yearlings are all coming along nicely and we have a string out first lot which is cool. They have all been behaving fairly well with only the odd the loose one on the heath. We say it every year, but we really do look to have a nice bunch and today I did mange to get some pictures of the HURRICANE RUN Ex AMATHIA who is a cracking looking filly. Today was her first day ridden and she behaved impeccably. She was joined by the Bertolini Ex Sweet Cando who has been named CANDYS GIRL. She is a tough little lady with a good attitude and again behaved really well. These two were kept to trotting in the indoor barn and then had a walk round the yard after they had finished exercise.

BERTOLINI EX SWEET CANDO

In the trotting ring we had the Dr Fong Ex Welsh Valley who has BEDJAT penciled in for a name, doing figures of eight and he was joined by the Iffraaj Ex Congressional who looks to be a nice type.

THURSDAY 12TH NOVEMBER

We we reached the 47 winner mark on Monday at Wolverhampton when GRAMERCY obliged nicely. It was good to have Jamie back riding for us and he gave the horse a lovely ride. He made good headway over four furlongs out and edged left and led just over one furlong from home. The win never looked in any doubt and hopefully on this evidence he is a nice horse for next season.

Yesterday we had the two runners at Kempton, the first of these being JUICY PEAR. He chased the leaders and quickened to take slight advantage inside the final two furlongs. He was headed approaching final furlong and soon had no chance with winner but kept on well to finish second. He is a horse who we have liked a lot and was working well early on in the season. He suffered a setback but seems to be going the right way now. He is a sweet horse and will hopefully be full of improvement for next year. Our only other runner was FAITED TO PRETEND and she failed to settle and raced far to keenly weakening inside the final furlong. She is much better than this run suggests and we will have to now work on getting her to settle more in her races.

We are still really busy for this time of year with runners and tomorrow we head to Wolverhampton with a good chance when HERECOMETHEGIRLS could hopefully break her maiden tag. She raced much better last time but was slowly away and was doing her best work later in the race. She should be suited by conditions here and hopefully she will finally have her moment. Early on in the day we have MISS EZE running at Lingfield and it would be great to finally get a win out of her before she heads for the December Sales. She gave a much improved effort last time and I think she will give a good account of herself here.

On Saturday we see the reappearance of Babycakes who run well for the majority of her race last time at Doncaster getting tired in the final furlong and a half. She is a very nice filly and although we think she will be nice for next year, we like her a lot and think she will show some ability here.

Most of the yearlings we have in now are ridden on the heath now and we are starting to break the next batch that have come in. We have had no dramas with them so far and all have behaved themselves really well.

FRIDAY 6TH NOVEMBER

On Wednesday we introduced two nicely bred fillies to the track and we were disappointed with the way they ran. SALVATION was traveling quite nicely when hampered and lost her place and after this she never really put herself in the race. It's a shame that she did not show a bit more, but she is a lovely bred filly and will make into a lovely broodmare if this is what career path lies ahead for her. Our only other runner was FIRETAIL and she had only done a couple of pieces of work but the lads who rode her felt she was ready for a run. She was slowly away which did not help her chances and she had a really good blow after the race which indicated she would have needed the run. She is certainly better than this run suggests and I think you will see a different filly next time out.

Tonight we have a good chance when MADAME ROULIN hits the race track. She is a filly that we like a lot and after two fairly good runs where she ran quite green we are hoping for a good show from her. She was always going to be a better three-year-old as she is very scopey and still has to fill her frame and strengthen but she is a nice filly who we like a lot.

COMPTON PLACE EX WINK

Tomorrow we have TELL HALAF running at Doncaster an he was very burly on his first outing. he is starting to trim up and hopefully we will see an encouraging effort from him here. Later on the card we have HIGHLAND LEGACY running and it would be great to see him run a good race after the problems we have had with him this season and to reward his patient owner Mr Bernard Warren. He is such a lovely horse and I would really love to see him get back on track.

AD VALOREM EX SALAGAMA

We have five yearlings broken and out first lot in the trotting ring in the yard. They have all behaved well so far and we do not appear to be having any problems. Second lot we had ridden for the first time the AD VALOREM EX SALAGAMA and the LIBRETTIST EX POST MODERN in the barn. Both behaved really well and as you cane seen from the pictures, they look to be two nice yearlings.

LIBRETTIST EX POST MODERN

ART CONNOISSUER is due to leave us on Tuesday for a new career as a stallion at the Irish National Stud. It is amazing to think that one day we may be training his progeny and it is an exciting thought. It is sad to see him go and we will remember him for his liking of Ascot where he won his two group races.

ART CONNOISSEUR

TUESDAY 3RD NOVEMBER

The weather is filthy here at present and the rain has certainly arrived all be it three weeks late. On the brighter side we now have three yearlings ridden and I will endeavor to get some pictures of them if the weather allows.

We are still having runners which is good as it still keeps everyone interested and on Friday we had the three runners at Wolverhampton. The first of these to run was LOCHAN MOR who soon led early on in the race. He was ridden and edged right over one furlong out, he was headed and unable to quicken inside the final 100 yards. Our next runner was JUICY PEAR and he did not perform as well as we had expected. He took a keen hold when chasing the leaders He was soon ridden and weakened inside the final furlong. He is better than this run suggests and although nothing has come to light it was not a true run from him and we are sure he is better than this. Our last runner at the meeting was MISS EZE and she pulled hard and was soon steadied towards the rear. She was in touch and made headway over one furlong out. She ran on inside final furlong and went 2nd in the last stride but had no chance with the winner. She has taken the race well and we are hoping to find another race for her before the December Sales.

On Saturday we had the three runners at Newmarket. The first of these was ACQUAINTED who raced towards the rear. She was soon pushed along and made some headway three furlongs out, but made no impression on the leaders and finished in the middle of the field. It was an encouraging run and she showed signs of ability for next season. Later on the card we had WILD ROSE running and we thought she would have been suited by the soft ground, but sadly it looks as though she was not and got stuck in the mud.  She raced towards the rear and made some headway over four furlongs out. She was asked to go with three furlongs left to run but weakened and finished down the field. We know she is better than this and on a firmer surface I think she would have given a much better show. Our last runner at the meeting was REGENERATION who was having his first run for us after arriving from Simon Callaghan's yard. He tracked the leaders and took a keen hold. He was ridden over one furlong out, but could make no impression. He is staying in training and hopefully we will have fun with him next year. He has today gone out to Mrs Ratcliffes where hopefully he will enjoy his winter break. She does a fantastic job with the horses and they always come back in looking in good order and really well.

On Sunday we had just to one runner when MOYENNE CORNICHE headed to Saint Cloud again to run in the group 3 Prix Perth. Sadly he did not run that well being dropped back to a mile and the jockey felt that the ground was not soft enough for him. He has arrived back from France and he now has an appointment with the vet on Thursday to be gelded which will mean at least he can be turned out and have a winter break.

Yesterday we had two runners at Wolverhampton where we thought we had a good chance with GRAMERCY He raced quite keen early on and then faded inside the final furlong giving the indication that he may not have stayed. He has been entered again for next Monday and we will keep an eye on his well being before making a decision if he should take his chance. Later on the card we had HERECOMETHEGIRLS running and I feel she was slightly unlucky. She was going to be ridden handily but looked to be slightly slowly away from the starting stalls. When asked to go with her effort she had her run slightly obstructed and stayed on well inside the final furlong beaten only a couple of lengths. She is learning all the time and it would be great to get a win out of her.

Today we have had to go up to Catterick in search of a winner and sadly PROFESSOR JOHN did not play ball. He dropped his jockey before the start and after being handy he dropped away tamely. Hopefully the handicapper will now give him some relief as he is certainly not worthy of the rating he has been given. He will now be gelded and hopefully he will improve over the winter.

FRIDAY 30TH OCTOBER

MOUNTAIN QUEST did not run as well as we had hoped at Nottingham on Wednesday. He again ran very green and was soon pushed along to be kept up to his work. He made some headway with three furlongs left to run and the weakened inside the final furlong. He is still a big baby and has a lot to learn but we certainly believe he holds ability and hopefully he will be a nice horse next year.

Yesterday we had two runners at Lingfield with the first of these being HYPNOTIZED. He again gave another promising effort finishing fifth. He raced slightly green in the middle part of the race and had to be kept about his work and although he looked as though he was never going to trouble the winner he stayed on nicely in the later stages of the race. Our only other runner was FAITED TO PRETEND and she was slowly away and was settled towards the rear of the field. She made good headway over the last couple of furlongs in the race and was running on nice and encouragingly coming inside the final furlong. She is a sweet little filly and hopefully she will win races.

Today we have seen TELL HALAF run at Newmarket and he ran well for the early part of the race. He is still very burly and raced quite keenly for the early part of the race. He got tired approaching the last couple of furlongs and dropped away.

Tonight we have good chances at Wolverhampton where we are hoping LOCHAN MOR can go one better. He is a consistent little horse and certainly deserves to win a race which will hopefully be tonight. JUICY PEAR has a good chance if he shows normal improvement from his third last time at wolverhampton and on the form he has the horse of William Haggas's to beat. Our last runner is MISS EZE and she will hopefully be able to give account of herself in this grade. She is due to go to the December Sales so if she can only show the form she showed at the beginning of the year that would give her a good chance.

Tomorrow we have declared a nice two-year-old filly called ACQUAINTED at Newmarket. She has been in good form at home and hopefully she will show some promise here. WILD ROSE has been stepped up in class to run in the Listed Montrose Stakes. She come into the race having won her last two and hopefully she will be able to show the promise we feel she holds here. Our last runner at Newmarket is REGENERATION who we acquired from Simon Callaghan's yard. He has settled in well since he arrived and his connections and there family will be at the track in force so it would be great to see him run well. Later in the evening we have CRUNCHED and GREAT CHARM running at Wolverhampton. Hopefully CRUNCHED can get his head in front after some promising efforts but he has Mick Cannon's horse being the one to beat. GREAT CHARM who was not sold at the Horses in Training Sales gets back to the action pretty quickly and has a good chance in the six furlong handicap.

On Sunday we are hoping to get a win out of MOYENNE CORNICHE. he has had to wait so long for his ground and he ran really well at Saint-Cloud last time when finishing second. He can hopefully go one better here being dropped back to a mile, but it looks a tough race but no more than you would expect for a Group 3. He has good form of late and hopefully Sunday will be his day!
